It’s going to be a quick column from me this week because I have been absolutely slammed lately with recruiting and onboarding new team members here in Dubai.

I’ll tell you more about that next week and go through what I honestly think has been the biggest and most costly mistake so far in 25 years of business.

But today, as short as this is, it is seriously powerful, and if you pay attention and take this on board, I guarantee a HUGE increase in your turnover, profitability, and net worth.

Are you doing enough? Do you give up too soon? I guarantee the answer is yes!

If you reached out to a prospect about a potential relationship and they knocked you back... How many times would you try again and reach out before you either decided you were wasting your time or your ego became too bruised to continue?

Give up on the first attempt. Try 2 or 3 times more. Try every month for 6 months.

You’d definitely give up after 6 months, right?

What if this person had the potential to transform your business? To make you a millionaire?

What if this was the most beautiful girl you had ever seen who you would marry and have babies with?

There still has to be a point at which you would give up if you weren’t getting the response you wanted, right?

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

Never, ever give up! Sure, you may need to temper the amount of time you reach out so that you don’t get labelled a stalker with a restraining order, but never give up!

Three years ago, I met a guy at a beach club in Dubai who was in the fundraising space. I knew of some of the previous projects he had raised money for; they were big! This guy had a serious fundraising network, and if I could tap into that, then he could absolutely transform my business.

So I took his number and reached out the next day to arrange a chat or a meeting. I got a response that he was traveling, b busy, or something like that, but certainly there was no change in a Zoom call or meeting.

So I left it a couple weeks and reached out again—similar story.

I tried multiple times over the next 6 months but either got ignored or knocked back. But I couldn’t give up because I knew this guy could transform my business. So forget ‘rules’, forget ego, forget being told I am wasting my time; I had to keep going.

Obviously, I reduced the frequency of contact. Chasing weekly would be ridiculous. But a text message, an email, etc. every 2–3 months is more than acceptable, I think.

And that’s what I did for 3 years! Yes, 3 years!

And earlier this week, I got a positive reply! He was in Dubai, like me, and would be available for lunch the next day.

I already had a meeting booked with someone else, but I cancelled it in a heartbeat and booked us a table for lunch!

Lunch went great. We haven’t got an immediate transaction to do, but the relationship is certainly established, and there will definitely not be a 3-year wait until the next time we meet!

Would you have persisted for 3 years? I honestly don’t believe 99.9% of people would.

And that is where the difference between success and failure lies. Between winning and losing. Between having a killer wife or just a bang-average girl. Between the Ferrari and the Ford.

It’s all in the 0.1%.

This is who you could have!

So whatever you are doing, do more! Try harder. Push further.

Make 100 cold calls. Fuck it, make 200. Don’t stop at 12 reps in the gym; do 15. Not 3 sets, but 4.

I guarantee your competition won’t be doing this, and this is where you will get the edge.

This is what WILL set you apart.

It may take you 3 years to get a response, but the plan is clear to see!

Finally finished the last few pages of "The Fund" by Real Rob Copeland about Ray Dalio and Bridgewater Capital. While you can’t knock Ray’s ability to raise capital and build a hedge fund, it’s fair to say I’ve got no interest in reading his book Principles anymore!

"The Fund" offers an unauthorised, unvarnished look into the life and career of famed Wall Street hedge-fund manager Ray Dalio. As the billionaire founder of Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund, Dalio's decision to step down from the company he founded forty-seven years ago sent shockwaves through the financial world. Rob Copeland dives deep into Dalio's leadership, drawing on hundreds of interviews with insiders to uncover the truth behind the success cultivated by Dalio.

Don’t blindly chase after what everyone else thinks is worth winning.

Peter Thiel is telling his younger self (and all of us) to take a step back and really think about whether the prize at the end of the race is even worth it. And you know what? He's onto something.

Before we get sucked into the rat race, it's crucial to ask ourselves if we're running towards something we genuinely want. Too often, we're hustling and grinding without stopping to consider if the prize is something that aligns with our own values and dreams. Thiel's advice is all about finding that clarity and making sure our efforts are in line with what truly matters to us.

So, next time you're tempted to dive headfirst into a competition or chase after a shiny prize, take a moment to pause and ask yourself: 'Is this really what I want?' Trust me, it's a game-changer.

It's been yet another busy week in my world (there's no rest for the wicked). The networking, PR, and insightful conversations never stop! Now, let's take a cheeky peek back at this week's featured guest:

This week’s episode is incredibly powerful. I'm delving into the unimaginable journey of Lurata Lyon, a true survivor of human trafficking. Growing up amidst the chaos of war in former Yugoslavia, she faced the unthinkable—being trafficked, held captive, groomed, and abused. But here's what sets Lurata apart—against all odds, she escaped. Only to find herself in another nightmare, kidnapped once again by Serbia's illegitimate army, enduring six months of torture and abuse. It's a raw and gut-wrenching account, but amidst the darkness, there's a glimmer of hope.

Lurata's story isn't just about survival; it's about resilience, healing, and the incredible strength of the human spirit. Listen in to this episode, released today, and be prepared to be moved, inspired, and changed. Listen here now or watch below!
